MANDATE OF THE DEPARTMENT:
The Management Department promotes effective Operations of the Joint Programme, and provides overarching management functions in the areas of human resources, finance, budget, information technology and administration to enhance UNAIDS' capacity to implement its mandate and vision.

Within the Management Department, the Information and Communication Technology department ensures that information technology is a strategic enabler of the vision of Getting to Zero and contributes to the transition from managing a disease to ending an epidemic. The ICT team makes possible new ways of collaboration, facilitates greater sharing of knowledge and provides new tools to reach out and communicate with our key stakeholders and constituencies. To play this important role, the department is an agent of change, contributing to making UNAIDS work fast, smart and efficiently.
Main tasks and Responsibilities of the Position:
Reporting to the Lead (ICT Business Intelligence), the Application Support Officer acts as a key interface between UNAIDS' users and the systems developed or deployed by the Business Intelligence team. In a fast-paced, continuously evolving environment that embraces the latest technological developments, the incumbent is tasked with the responsibilities of maintaining, monitoring UNAIDS applications and databases, and diagnosing and resolving application-related issues.

Specifically, the Officer, Application Support will:

1. Determine, document, and track the cause of reported problems in production systems in collaboration with the Business Intelligence team members

2. Troubleshoot technical problems on UNAIDS systems, provide robust solutions, and assist UNAIDS staff members in the use of UNAIDS applications, including off-the-shelf products

3. Perform technical operations of the UNAIDS intranet (MS SharePoint) in collaboration with colleagues from the Business Intelligence and Internal Communication teams, and ensure reliable performance in conformity with user needs and expectations

4. Assist in the development of supplementary software applications, scripts, and templates for the UNAIDS websites (intranet/internal and/or extranet) in line with UNAIDS technical standards

5. Document release management procedures and testing protocols to ensure smooth deployment of new software releases, patches and upgrades

6. Perform routine maintenance and monitoring of the underlying technologies, including Azure environment, SQL databases, Drupal, MS SharePoint, and webservers (MS Windows and Linux), as well as the management of database backup and restore processes

7. Collaborate with the Global Service Desk on issues related to application features (known errors, bugs, fixes, etc.) and liaise with other relevant colleagues in the Business Intelligence team concerning enhancements and error fixing

8. Carry out additional related duties or assignments as directed by the Lead of the Business Intelligence team, and actively participate in the on-call rotation
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Essential: Advanced university degree at MasterĀ“s level or equivalent in Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field is essential. For internal candidates, a first university degree is accepted with a minimum of four years relevant experience.

Experience:
Essential:

A minimum of 2 years of experience in maintaining software platforms, developing of web-based information systems.

Experience in MySQL or SQL server, MS SharePoint, Power Apps, Power BI, Python, web technologies, Drupal/WordPress.

Experience in Software development life cycle process.

Knowledge of ITIL, MS Fabric, MS Azure AD, ServiceNow, Kubernetes and agile development is an asset.
Languages:
Essential: Advanced level of English.

Desirable: Good working knowledge of French or another UN official language.
Additional Information:
Positions at the international professional category within UNAIDS will be subject to the Organization's Mobility Policy.
Annual salary: (Net of tax)
USD 61,680 at single rate
Post Adjustment: 40.5 % of the figure(s) on the left side. This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
