MANDATE OF THE DEPARTMENT:
Provide leadership and coordinate support for an expanded UN system response to ending the AIDS epidemic at regional and country level. Promote, support and provide guidance to regional and national partners and the UN system in reaching Global AIDS targets by 2020 with a Fast-Track approach to rapidly scale up HIV services focused on populations and in locations most affected by the epidemic. Promote effective use of strategic information and documentation of trends on the epidemic and the response as well as provide intellectual leadership on the status of the response to HIV in the region.
Main tasks and Responsibilities of the Position:
Under the joint supervision of the UNAIDS Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific and the Coordinator, HIV Testing and Prevention, WHO Geneva; and in consultation with colleagues at the UNAIDS Regional Support Team for Asia and the Pacific, and WHO WPRO and SEARO, the incumbent will coordinate and support UNAIDS’ and WHO’s efforts to expand availability and uptake of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) as an additional tool in HIV combination prevention approaches in the Asia Pacific region.
Under the overall guidance of the UNAIDS Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific, and the WHO Coordinator HIV Testing and Prevention:
1. Support information sharing with key stakeholders in the Asia-Pacific region to support PrEP implementation in the region, including by: coordinating a plan for technical webinar series hosted by the Global PrEP Coalition focusing on providers, policy makers, and potential and active PrEP users in Asia-Pacific; providing country-level updates and on PrEP implementation and relevant WHO and UNAIDS activities for the Global PrEP Coalition and other audiences; and convening the Asia Pacific Regional PrEP Advisory Group.
2. Identify and facilitate strategic partnerships and alliances between UNAIDS and WHO, and UNAIDS co-sponsors, national governments, key donors, implementers and members of civil society, to progress PrEP implementation at country-level
3. Build the capacity of regional and country partners and support implementation of PrEP in the Asia-Pacific by providing technical assistance on guideline development, program implementation, monitoring and evaluation, etc.
4. Identify and support key regional activities, in consultation with key stakeholders, to expand and strengthen PrEP implementation in the Asia-Pacific, including regional consultations.
5. In close collaboration with the strategic information advisor and data hub, support the collection, analysis, and dissemination of regional, national and sub-national data on the state of PrEP implementation in the Asia-Pacific for regular WHO and UNAIDS reporting, including GAM and Unitaid reporting.
6. Support integration and sustainability of PrEP as an additional HIV prevention option, in collaboration with regional and national partners, UNAIDS and WHO focal points on HIV, PrEP and/or key populations, UNAIDS cosponsors, and civil society organisations.
7. Perform any other duties as requested by the Director, UNAIDS Regional Support Team, and Coordinator, HIV testing and Prevention, WHO Geneva.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Essential: Advanced university degree or equivalent at Master level in public health, international health, medicine, social sciences, or a related filed. For internal candidates, first university degree and 9 years of relevant work experience will be considered as equivalent.

Experience:
Essential: Seven (7) years of technical, policy and/or programmatic experience, at a combination of international and national/sub-national levels, in public health and HIV. At least three years 's experience in implementation of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).
Experience in meaningful engagement with civil society, clinicians, researchers and government.
Languages:
Essential: Advanced knowledge of English.
Desirable: Knowledge of other UN system official languages.
Additional Information:
Positions at the international professional category within UNAIDS will be subject to the Organization's Mobility Policy. The abovementioned position is a rotational position and its standard duration of assignment is linked to the ICSC hardship classification of the duty station.

Annual salary: (Net of tax)
US$ 72,637 at single rate
