MANDATE OF THE DEPARTMENT:
Our mission is to effectively position UNAIDS and our issues with key audiences and to create, manage and share knowledge with partners in the AIDS response.
Main tasks and Responsibilities of the Position:
Under the supervision of the Chief Communications, the incumbent will be expected to carry out the following tasks for the UNAIDS web and social media platforms:

- Lead, develop and implement a social media strategy for UNAIDS, that evolves with trends in social media.
- Initiate high level engagement in social media conversations on AIDS and related issues on behalf of UNAIDS in social media platforms.
- Manage and enhance the social media profile of UNAIDS corporate social media assets including facebook, twitter, flickr, youtube, google+ and other appropriate forums. This include consistent and timely UNAIDS postings and ensuring postings are accurate and on message.
- Connect, seek and foster relationships with super connector individuals, companies and organizations and manage their engagement in social media platforms to increase outreach of UNAIDS messages and goals.
- Design and implement social media campaigns for UNAIDS corporate priorities.
- Promote relationships with civil society and other partners for outreach of UNAIDS messages as well as in undertaking joint social media campaigns.
- Lead in generating innovative ideas for promoting UNAIDS messages and issues in online platforms.
- Manage and promote social media engagement of senior UNAIDS staff in HQ, regions and countries. Provide advice and support to communication officers in Regional Support Teams and Countries on social media issues.
- Write features, photo essays and other content for UNAIDS online assets. Publish web content online using the content management systems deployed by UNAIDS.
- Manage AIDSspace, include periodic redesigns, promotion of platform and provide content direction.
- Develop and manage crowdsourcing solutions for key UNAIDS activities.
- Conduct a variety of research, writing, and editing assignments in support of UNAIDS communication products.
- All other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Essential: University degree in social sciences, communication, public or business administration.

Experience:
Essential:
A minimum of three to six years of professional experiences in managing communication and social media projects, project coordination, preferably with experience at the international level. Knowledge of social media platforms and technical skills for engaging with them. Demonstrated knowledge of AIDS issues, of communication practices and producing information for web communities.

Desirable:
Experience with governmental/international institutions or the UN System. Campaign planning and design skills.
Languages:
Advanced knowledge of English and good knowledge of French.
Annual salary: (Net of tax)
56,091 USD at single rate
60,091 USD with primary dependants
