MANDATE OF THE DEPARTMENT:
The Technology and Innovation Department (TIN) ensures that information technology is a strategic enabler of the vision of Getting to Zero, and contributes to the transition from managing a disease to ending an epidemic. TIN makes possible new ways of collaboration, facilitates greater sharing of knowledge and provides new tools to reach out and communicate - with unprecedented reach and speed - with our key stakeholders and constituencies. To play this important role, the department is an agent of change, contributing to making UNAIDS work fast, smart and efficiently.

Main tasks and Responsibilities of the Position:
Reporting to the Chief, Field and Remote Support Division, Information Management Officer manages and maintains applications and databases across UNAIDS and develops/refines Intranet systems, which improves the performance of individual staff and teams. The incumbent also analyses and monitor the environment of the different applications and their use across UNAIDS diagnose and resolve application-related issues.
Specifically the Information Management Officer will: - Determine, document and track, in collaboration with the Information Management Division, the cause of reported problems in production systems - Troubleshoot and provide robust solutions to technical problems on UNAIDS systems and assist UNAIDS staff members in the use of UNAIDS applications. - Perform technical operations of the UNAIDS internal website in collaboration with colleagues in the Department and specifically with the Information Management Division and ensuring reliable performance in conformity with user needs and expectations - Assist in the development of supplementary software applications, scripts and templates for the UNAIDS websites (intranet/internal and or extranet) in line with UNAIDS technical standards. - Draft training and testing protocols to ensure smooth deployment of patches and upgrades and prepare technical documentation for undocumented legacy systems - Perform routine maintenance and monitoring of the underlying technologies including, SQL databases (MS SQL and MySQL), Drupal, IIS (including implementation of monitoring tools) as well as the management of database backup and restore - Collaborate with the Global Service Desk on issues relating to application features (known errors, bugs, fixes, etc.) and liaise with other relevant colleagues in the Information Management Division concerning enhancements and error-fixing - Perform other related duties or assignments as assigned by the Chief Global Field and Remote Support Division and participate in on-call rotation.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS |
Education: Essential: A first university degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field is essential. Or relevant technical education in the above mentioned field of IT complimented by relevant experience. |

Experience:
Essential: At least 1-2 years of experience in the development of web based information systems Experience in MySQL or SQL server, PHP, HTML, CSS, XML, IIS server or apache, JavaScript, ASP, Drupal. Experience in Software development life cycle process. |
Languages:
Essential: Advanced level of English. Desirable: Good working knowledge of French or another UN official language.
