MANDATE OF THE DEPARTMENT:
Communications is one of five units in the Policy, Advocacy, and Knowledge Branch (PAK). It is home to UNAIDS' communications, partnerships, and strategic political work-mobilizing a spectrum of tools and relationships to support building an environment enabling the ultimate goal of ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. It ensures effectiveness, impact, and consistency in the organization-wide advocacy effort with specific attention on addressing inequalities that drive pandemics and make some people, in some places, particularly susceptible to them. The communications team, responsible for external-facing communicating across all of UNAIDS's media platforms and networked to regional offices in all six UNAIDS regions works in close coordination with the Influencing and Partnerships team, responsible for building organization-wide initiatives and platforms to advance the UNAIDS' policy and political agenda.

Main tasks and Responsibilities of the Position:
Under the supervision of the Social Media Lead, the post holder will carry out the following:
Operate social media accounts of UNAIDS as assigned. This may include Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and expanding UNAIDS' presence on new platforms such as TikTok and other appropriate forums. This includes consistent and timely UNAIDS postings and ensuring postings are accurate, on message, and are relevant, engaging and shareable for the audience/followers. Generate innovative ideas for promoting UNAIDS messages and issues in online platforms. Create social media friendly videos, graphics, features, photo essays and other content for UNAIDS social media channels. Develop, drive and implement social media campaigns for UNAIDS corporate priorities. Regularly monitor and analyze the trends and engagement on the UNAIDS social media platforms. Connect and foster relationships with super connector individuals, companies, and organizations. Develop crowdsourcing solutions for key UNAIDS social media activities. Provide training, advice, and support to UNAIDS colleagues about social media. Within the delegated authority, commission and manage consultants, interns, and other staff. Replace other Communications colleagues during absences and share workload during periods of high demands. All other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS |
Education: Essential: Advanced university degree in communications, marketing, digital marketing/digital communications or related social sciences. For internal candidates, a first university degree in the above and four (4) years of relevant work experience will be considered as equivalent. |

Experience:
Essential: A minimum of two years in managing and/or implementing social media projects, preferably with some experience at the international level. Knowledge and experience in producing social media friendly content such as TikTok videos, Instagram Reels, social media graphics. Experience managing/moderating a social media community.
Desirable: Experience working on major organisational social media accounts or large individual/influential social media profiles. Having worked on AIDS, health or human rights.

Languages:
Essential: Excellent knowledge of English.
Desirable: Working knowledge of another UN official language an asset.

Additional Information:
Positions at the international professional category within UNAIDS will be subject to the Organization's Mobility Policy. The above-mentioned position is a rotational position and its standard duration of assignment is linked to the ICSC hardship classification of the duty station.
