MANDATE OF THE DEPARTMENT:
About UNAIDS: Serving Communities and Countries to End Inequalities and AIDS.

We, the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS, lead the global effort to end AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. By placing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to reduction of inequalities at the heart of our work, we lead the global response to AIDS by: (i) maximizing equitable and equal access to HIV services, (ii) breaking down barriers to achieving HIV outcomes, and (iii) integrating efficient HIV responses into wider health and protection systems.
We are committed to creating an equal, safe and empowering workplace culture where all people in all their diversity thrive. We live our values of Commitment to the AIDS Response, Integrity and Respect for Diversity. You can access the full UNAIDS Competency Framework here.

The Sciences Systems and Services (SSA) for all Practice leads on promotion and acceleration of sustainable transformative actions, and innovative equitable programmatic solutions, strategies, and policies for meeting 2025 Global AIDS targets. The practice works with countries, communities, partners and academia to: identify and seek specific solutions to bottlenecks that impede the delivery of impactful and inclusive people centered HIV services; provides political leadership and technical support to make a "case" for focus, programme optimization, and accelerated service delivery; substantiates resource mobilization (international and domestic); promotes the integration of innovative service delivery and the use of strategic information to support sustainable programs.

The Programme Innovation for Prevention, Treatment and Pediatrics (PTP) team provides strategic leadership and guidance on effective approaches to achieving the 95-95-95 global AIDS targets. It develops and promotes strategies, policies and programmatic approaches to sustainably overcome bottlenecks to services for all in both high and low prevalence countries; generates and disseminates strategic information and program guidance to regions and countries; champions the development and implementation of state-of- the-art behavioral, biomedical and structural interventions, strengthening linkages between HIV services and gender and human rights initiatives and programs; and establishes and strengthens partnerships and alliances to promote the HIV services for all agenda.
