MANDATE OF THE DEPARTMENT:
The Resource Mobilization team advocates with and mobilizes governments, foundations, the private sector and other donors to provide financial support to UNAIDS, to meet the resource mobilization targets established by the PCB, and to ensure effective client services in support of funds management (e.g. recording of contributions, funding proposals and reporting, legal advice, etc) and in strategic information and analysis (e.g. donor data base).
Main tasks and Responsibilities of the Position:
Under the guidance of the Chief Resource Mobilization, the incumbent will be responsible for carrying out the following tasks:

1. Research, identify and analyze donor political trends, ODA data, and donor AIDS priorities and programmes and prepare policy documents as background information on donors for the database maintained by RMO;

2. Research, identify and analyze political trends and AIDS priorities of Foundations in Europe and North America and develop and establish a list of potential contacts in Foundations;

3. Develop and strengthen relations with selected foundations, as assigned by the Chief, Resource Mobilization and identify opportunities for cooperation with new foundations;

4. Identify potential donors in Southern countries and emerging economies for fundraising ;

5. Coordinate and prepare briefing documents for consultations with donors and develop speaking points for meetings with donors;

6. Oversee and organize meetings and consultations with donors, including agenda, coordination of participation of UNAIDS staff, logistical arrangements and preparation of briefings and meeting reports;

7. Coordinate, manage, and act as RMO focal point for the RMO database in cooperation with other units; and update and maintain the database, including the donor reporting matrix and donor information sheets;
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Advanced degree in international relations, social and/or political science, public administration/management.
Competencies:
A good understanding of the multilateral system; verbal and writing skills and knowledge of global development issues; computer and database skills.
Experience:
At least 3 to five years experience in working in the field of communication and/or external relations. Relevant UN System experience.
Languages:
Advanced level in English and French, working knowledge of any other UN language an asset.
Annual salary: (Net of tax)
55 259 US$ at single rate
59 200 US$ with primary dependants
Post Adjustment: % of the figure(s) on the left side. This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
