MANDATE OF THE DEPARTMENT:
The Partnerships function of UNAIDS works to harness the strategic strengths of a broad range of stakeholders through developing partnerships and reinforcing advocacy.

Main tasks and Responsibilities of the Position:
Under the overall guidance of the Deputy Executive Director, Management and External Relations and under the direct supervision of the Director, Partnerships and External Relations, the Chief of Partnerships will:
1. Lead and manage the Partnerships team -and the development and implementation of the UNAIDS Partnership Strategy for strengthened and integrated partnerships at global regional and country levels. 2. Identify and develop new partnerships and implement strategies to improve the effectiveness of UNAIDS' work with partners, as well as to facilitate innovation for expanding UNAIDS' partnership efforts at global, national and regional levels. 3. Manage effective liaison and information exchange, on partnership strategies, approaches and programmes; ensure strong links with UNAIDS Cosponsors, Country Offices and Regional Support Teams. 4. Provide leadership and coordinate support to UNAIDS partnership activities with civil society including people living with HIV. 5. Provide strategic direction for effective partnerships with the private sector in close collaboration with relevant cosponsors and manage key relationships with the private sector networks. 6. Provide leadership and guidance to UNAIDS advocacy and campaigning efforts. 7. Oversee the management of activities of Special Envoys of the Secretary-General and Goodwill Ambassadors. 8. In close collaboration with the Chief, Board and UN Relations, ensure effective coordination in engaging all partner constituencies in preparation of, during, and in follow-up to the meetings of the UNAIDS Programme Coordinating Board as well as in meetings of other relevant bodies. 9. Undertake any other duties as appropriate as part of the overall Partnerships function.

| REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS |
Education: Advanced university degree in development, management, international relations, political or social sciences, or related field. |
Competencies:
Demonstrated knowledge of the UN system and managing effective partnerships in multiple sectors including: civil society, private sector and Member States; Thorough knowledge of AIDS as a cross-cutting development concern.

Experience:
At least fifteen years' experience in international and multicultural environment complemented by experience in working with governments, UN agencies and civil society. |
Languages:
Excellent knowledge of English and proficiency in French. Desirable: Knowledge of another UN official language.

Additional Information:
Positions at the international professional category within UNAIDS may be subject to the Organization's Mobility Policy. The above mentioned post is a rotational post and has a standard duration of assignment of four years. The standard duration is linked to the hardship classification of the duty station.

90.4 % of the figure(s) on the left side. This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation. |
