MANDATE OF THE DEPARTMENT:
The Civil Society Partnerships (CSP) team works to harness the strategic strengths of a broad range of civil society organizations in order to strengthen the response to AIDS at all levels. Civil Society is defined as 'not-for-profit non-state actors' - key civil society groups include NGOs, organizations of people living with HIV, faith-based organizations and employees' organizations.

Main tasks and Responsibilities of the Position:
1. Within the delegated authority and in collaboration with the Partnership Advisor with responsibility for networks of people living with HIV, oversee the development and expansion of UN+. 2. Advocate for and input into the development and enhancement of UN HIV workplace policies necessary for supportive, inclusive and safe environments for all UN employees living with or affected by HIV, and commission appropriate research in these areas where necessary. 3. Provide advice to UN+ members seeking information and guidance on HIV workplace related issues such as, but not limited to, insurance, stigma and discrimination and confidentiality and make referrals when necessary. 4. Coordinate the production, translation and dissemination of key UN+ documents. 5. Foster and maintain relationships with key partners such as UN Cares team, Human Resource Directors, HIV Learning Strategy Facilitators, UN Medical services, staff associations, FICSA, ombudsmen and staff counselors, 6. Establish and maintain contact with all members of UN+ including facilitation of discussion and online communications and regular dissemination of information via the UN+ website, 7. Liaise with and report regularly to the UN+ Advisory Group, 8. Build and strengthen partnerships with global, regional and country level PLHIV networks in relation to HIV workplace policies and stigma and discrimination, 9. Support the development of positive staff groups within other institutions. 10. Ensure UN+ participation and visibility at key events. 11. Perform other related duties as assigned

| REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS |
Education: Essential: University degree in social sciences, communications or international relations or a related subject. Desirable: Advanced university degree in the above mentioned subjects. |
Competencies:
Strong interpersonal, representational, policy and advocacy skills. Ability to lead and manage a team facilitating and strengthening the involvement of a range of external partners in AIDS work. Knowledge of the UN system and development issues. Understanding of the HIV epidemic and its impact.

Experience:
Essential: At least five years experience in partnership development working with People living with HIV networks and organizations. Within this experience at least 3 years experience at the national and international levels working with diverse stakeholders in policy development, advocacy and partnership development as they relate to People living with HIV. Broad experience in working with and mobilizing a range of external partners. Experience providing policy guidance and working with development agencies, governmental and civil society organizations, particularly those representing key populations at higher risk of infection. In depth understanding and experience of dealing with the multiple challenges faced by people living with HIV such as stigma, discrimination, health and workplace related issues. Experience with, or good understanding of, the UN system. Desirable: Experience of having worked with key population groups at higher risk of HIV infection. Experience in counselling. |
Languages:
Essential: Excellent knowledge of English, with a working knowledge of French or Spanish. Desirable: Knowledge of another UN official language.
