MANDATE OF THE DEPARTMENT:
Our mission is to effectively position UNAIDS and our issues with key audiences. And to create, manage and share knowledge with partners and potential partners in the AIDS response. We will work across three areas: Communications, Content management and Web platform and Production.
Main tasks and Responsibilities of the Position:
Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Head, Content Management the incumbent will:
1. Develop and implement strategic knowledge sharing strategy for UNAIDS at the global, regional, country and internal levels (including consolidating work in several areas: writing, editing, translations, graphic design, Web, publications, marketing, production and multi-media outlets), as well as establishing and implementing projects involving publishing, editing, writing and editing assignments
2. Project manage 30-50 cross-cutting initiatives across the three smaller teams with in the section as well as the UNAIDS Secretariat and other partners
3. Oversee the development/adaptation and implementation of effective managerial processes including electronic publications tracking systems and a financial User Pays system, implementing innovation and changes.
4. Lead and coordinate new projects related to knowledge sharing initiatives, and, within the delegated authority managing, guiding and motivating staff and consultants
5. Undertake related assignments as required by the Chief, Communications and Knowledge sharing.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
University degree in communication, public or business administration, social sciences complemented by post graduate degree in management or a related field, or combination of relevant academic preparation and work equivalent.
Desirable: Training or sound understanding of marketing and/or publication processes.
Competencies:
Demonstrated ability to conceptualize problems, think strategically and implement solutions. Extensive experience with Microsoft project and working knowledge of HTML and content management systems. Knowledge of AIDS, research, planning, coordination and advocacy processes. Strong organizational skills; proven writing and editing skills; creativity and problem-solving skills.
Experience:
Considerable experience in project management in the public and/or private sector, governmental, international or other international organizations/institutions, including some five years experience in project management, publications, Web, multi-media, multiple-languages, publication production; and/or experience with NGO's donor agencies, government and multilateral programmes including facilitation and engagement of leaders.
Desirable: Experience in leading projects involving publication production with managerial responsibilities.
Languages:
Excellent knowledge of English or French, with a working knowledge of the other language.
Desirable: Knowledge of another UN official language.
Annual salary: (Net of tax)
61 834 US$ at single rate
66 401 US$ with primary dependants
Post Adjustment: 73.3 % of the figure(s) on the left side. This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
