MANDATE OF THE DEPARTMENT:
The mandate of the Monitoring and Evaluation Division (EVA) is to: 1) provide scientific leadership by setting international M&E standards and producing normative guidelines under the auspices of the UNAIDS M&E Reference Group; 2) establish and maintain a global monitoring system and database that supports the global tracking of indicators measuring progress on the UNGASS Declaration of Commitment and other international initiatives such as Universal Access and the Millenium Development Goals (MDG), supplementing this monitoring system with special evaluation studies of international significance as needed; 3) produce global reports and thematic papers for global dissemination; 4) provide technical support to the regional and country level UNAIDS Advisers in their efforts to support the national M&E system; and 5) coordinate and strengthen the global, regional and country M&E partners communications and collaboration network in support of a harmonized and aligned approach to indicator monitoring, evaluation approaches, and capacity building to attain Three ones, specifically the Third One, one national M&E system.
Main tasks and Responsibilities of the Position:
1. Review/update contracts/agreements of the Unit including updating the registry files and the contract tracking system.

2. Provide administrative support in the preparation of the 2008 Global AIDS Report and for the International AIDS Conference in Mexico City, Mexico in August 2008.

3. Assist Team Leader with the preparation of the Secretary General's Report by coordinating meetings with all necessary Secretariat staff and relevant co-sponsor leads and preparing necessary funding documents.

4. Initiate and take notes during the Multi-Agency Conference Calls (MACC).

5. To assist the Data Analyst with daily requests from field staff, HQ staff and others for UNGASS data information; assist with compiling and preparing data for different types of analysis; and assist with maintenance and organization of data and country information on UNGASS in database and files.

6. To provide support to staff within the Department for the organization of one or more of the following: meetings, workshops, etc. e.g. photocopying documents and preparing briefing files, including labels and dividers, collecting documentation from various sources.

7. Using on-line systems, to assist with the preparation of travel authorizations, flight, and hotel reservations.

8. During meeting, workshops, and other, to provide assistance and backup to colleagues in the department/unit.

9. To perform other related duties as required or instructed, including providing secretarial support to other areas of work and teams as necessary.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Completion of secondary school, complemented by secretarial training including office systems.
Competencies:
Good knowledge of modern office procedures and training and experience with office software.
Experience:
Essential: At least five years experience in secretarial positions.
Desirable: Experience in the UN or WHO.
Languages:
Excellent knowledge of English or French, with a working knowledge of the other language.

Annual salary: (Net of tax)
67149 CHF at single rate
