MANDATE OF THE DEPARTMENT:
Our mission is to effectively position UNAIDS and our issues with key audiences. And to create, manage and share knowledge with partners and potential partners in the AIDS response. We will work across three areas: Communications, Content management and Web platform and Production.
Main tasks and Responsibilities of the Position:
Under the supervision of the Chief, Content management team is assigned the following responsibilities:
1. Work closely with supervisor and Content Web platform manager, to develop and implement Web content strategy for UNAIDS Web site at the global, regional and country levels, providing leadership, guidance and support as appropriate
2. Develop and implement processes for handling large quantities of content for the Web
3. Serve as the editorial/content focal point for the UNAIDS homepage, playing a key role in developing the information strategy and approach as well as managing the ongoing writing and editing of the UNAIDS homepage and related articles.
4. Manage staff and consultants assigned to the Web content creation team
5. Undertake a range of writing assignments including talking points, statements, fact sheets, Q&As, and feature stories for the Web site and other writing assignments as assigned.
6. Undertake related assignments as required by the Content manager, Content management team
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
University degree in communications, with major in English, public or business administration or a combination of relevant academic preparation and work equivalent.
Competencies:
Demonstrated success in roles requiring analytic, systematic thinking while managing multiple priorities. Knowledge of AIDS programming, research, planning, coordination and advocacy processes. Experience with NGO's donor agencies, government and multilateral programmes-ability to facilitate and engage leaders at all levels. Strong organizational skills; proven writing and editing skills; creativity and problem-solving skills. Experience with Microsoft Project and working knowledge of HTML and content management systems.
Experience:
A minimum of seven years' experience in communications, writing and editing Web content in development field, at national or international levels, with governmental, international or other international organizations/institutions. Experience in project management with managerial responsibilities.
Languages:
Excellent knowledge of English with a working knowledge of French. Knowledge of another UN official language.
Additional Information:
In close collaboration with the International Civil Service Commission UNAIDS is developing and testing a system of reward for contribution and a broad-banded salary structure (Band1: P1 and P2, Band 2: P3, P4 and P5, Band 3: D1 and D2). As this system is being tested the existing grading system will be maintained until further notice. This post is at the P4 grade under the current grading system.
Annual salary: (Net of tax)
61 834US$ at single rate
66 401US$ with primary dependants
Post Adjustment: 73.9 % of the figure(s) on the left side. This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
