MANDATE OF THE DEPARTMENT:
Reporting to the Manager, Systems Integration and Development, the Systems Developer (SD) analyzes the information management requirements of users across UNAIDS and develops/refines systems that, in concert with the overarching IT strategy, significantly improves the performance of individual staff and teams. In developing systems, the SD links user needs with the range of IT services by coordinating with relevant IMT colleagues, the integration of learning, testing & validation and performance assessment in delivering a comprehensive, service. The SD, beyond providing technical expertise, partners with users to continually assess their IT functionality and reliably provide the most relevant systems in support of their work.
Main tasks and Responsibilities of the Position:
1. Partner with user colleagues and teams to explore operational requirements, assess functionality of IT systems and recommend optimal business solutions
2. Develop, implement, refine, maintain and provide third-level support to the most relevant automated business systems for the UNAIDS user community, in line with information systems architecture
3. Support the technical management of the UNAIDS internal and external websites in collaboration with external designers by upgrading functionality and ensuring reliable performance in conformity with user needs and expectations
4. Assess utility of off-the-shelf products and creation of internal systems within context of UNAIDS IT strategy and individual user needs, recommending appropriate usage
5. Develop training, testing and validation protocols that validate utility of systems while strengthening client literacy and ownership of their IT environment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
University Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field.
Competencies:
Good knowledge of UML methodology, excellent knowledge of HTML/ASP/ASP.NET, C#.NET, XML and SQL, good knowledge of IIS Server, MS Windows servers, client and server side scripts, SQL Server, knowledge of MS Sharepoint and MS Content Management Server. Knowledge of other CMS, Web Servers and equivalent technologies will be an asset.
Experience:
At least 5 years of experience in the development of web based information systems.
Languages:
Fluency in English and/or French, working knowledge of the other.
Additional Information:
In close collaboration with the International Civil Service Commission UNAIDS is developing and testing a system of reward for contribution and a broad-banded salary structure (Band1: P1 and P2, Band 2: P3, P4 and P5, Band 3: D1 and D2). As this system is being tested the existing grading system will be maintained until further notice. This post is at the P3 grade under the current grading system.
Annual salary: (Net of tax)
51 395 US$ at single rate
55 060 US$ with primary dependants
Post Adjustment: 72.5 % of the figure(s) on the left side. This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
