MANDATE OF THE DEPARTMENT:
The mission of the IMT unit is to lead, guide and standardize the development and provision of all UNAIDS Information & Communications Technology infrastructure, systems and services. The IMT unit is responsible to standardize and integrate all information management and information technology activities across the Secretariat and to ensure that these are delivered in a coherent way and can be linked to the wider information management work of UNAIDS. The IMT unit identifies and evaluates new technologies and architectures, anticipates their business benefits to the organization and puts in place solutions that enable and empower UNAIDS staff to obtain timely information for decision-making purposes. Through the work of the IMT unit, UNAIDS shall be in a leading position in its use of information management technologies in the UN system.
Main tasks and Responsibilities of the Position:
The Global Service Desk (GSD) aligns learning strategies and coordinates delivery of all UNAIDS IT learning services, including user support at a first-level diagnosis and second-level support. The GSD promotes IT literacy, optimizing utilization of systems and enhancing the performance of users.

Reporting to the Manager, GSD, the Training Officer will develop and deliver Microsoft Office training programmes for delivery worldwide that conform to the European Computer Driving License (ECDL) curriculum. Specifically the Training Officer has the following responsibilities:
1. Provide expert advice on ECDL and develop a learning programme in line with the official ECDL curriculum, and manage the UNAIDS ECDL Test Centre and its resources, including but not limited to:
a. Develop and manage the roll-out of ECDL to all staff worldwide
b. Act as a liaison between UNAIDS and ECDL Switzerland
c. Document system setup (classroom configuration, software installation, e-learning links, etc.)
d. Deliver training and formal classroom sessions during the staff member's preparation for ECDL certification
e. Interact directly with UNAIDS individual staff members, providing guidance, support and training during the staff member's preparation for ECDL certification.
f. Participate in the bi-weekly Solutions Centre sessions (one-on-one coaching, small group sessions)
g. Administer formal ECDL certification sessions

2. Contribute to other (non-ECDL related) UNAIDS learning programmes as determined by the Manager, GSD
3. Other Related Responsibilities:
a. In close collaboration with the Manager, GSD, develop, implement and ensure the effective delivery of a flexible training programme for UNAIDS staff in regional/country offices
b. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
University degree in Computer Science, science or a relevant combination of academic preparation and experience.
Desirable: ECDL Certified Examiner certification.
Experience:
Several years' experience in similar positions, including demonstrated training experience combined with or as related to experience implementing an ECDL learning programme, at national or international level, and experience in instructional design, needs assessment, training methodologies (classroom, self-study, e-learning, etc.).
Desirable: Some experience in ECDL learning programme and the management of ECDL projects.
Languages:
Excellent knowledge of English or French with a working knowledge of the other language.
Desirable: Knowledge of another UN official language.
Additional Information:
In close collaboration with the International Civil Service Commission UNAIDS is developing and testing a system of reward for contribution and a broad-banded salary structure (Band1: P1 and P2, Band 2: P3, P4 and P5, Band 3: D1 and D2). As this system is being tested the existing grading system will be maintained until further notice. This post is at the P3 grade under the current grading system.
Annual salary: (Net of tax)
51 395 US$ at single rate
55 060 US$ with primary dependants
Post Adjustment: 72.5 % of the figure(s) on the left side. This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
